Spring calls for heels & lace!

The title of this post is pretty much all I was thinking as I was getting dressed. Why? Because it was 65 degrees! I didn't have any plans for the day, and I'm still sick, but I knew I had to go somewhere just because it was so amazing outside. So, me and my roommate Lauren decided to head to Andersonville, a cute little neighborhood in North Chicago. We check out the local thrift store, walked around, and had dinner. The perfect spring Saturday afternoon. :)
Now onto the outfit. I bought these shoes in the fall I think, but this was my first time wearing them. They were less than $30 so I just had to get them, but at the time I was still a little iffy on wearing heeled boots/heels in general. After all, I'm already 5'8". But now that I've really gotten into the blogging world, I see heeled boots everywhere and I just LOVE them. So, I dug these out of the back of my shoe pile under my bed and finally wore them! How cute are the purple bottoms?? Love them.
Also, sorry about the picture overload. We had so much fun finally being able to take photos outside. Lauren usually only gets to photograph me in our living room since we live in busy downtown Chicago, so being outside in more of a suburb area was awesome!
I just couldn't hide my excitement for it finally feeling like spring. hahah.

Color Spectrum

When we took these photos, it was extremely gloomy outside and about to get dark, so I thought I'd try something new and use my strobe that I really only use when I'm photographing an event. I actually like how they turned out. I still prefer natural light but it's fun so use some strobes once and a while!

This outfit isn't all that exciting or creative, but it's super colorful, and I'm proud of myself for that haha. I'm in love with the bright colors trend for spring and can't wait to bust it out in full force once it's warmer. Oh, and these were taken about an hour before I realized I was getting sick. It has now progressed into a full on miserable head cold so there may not be an outfit for a few days. :(

Neutrals with Turquoise

Hi guys! This outfit is from last Friday, and I wore it to a concert with my friend Jessie. I love breaking the whole no-brown-and-black rule just because I think they actually look really good together if you pick the right browns. I noticed right away when I put this outfit on that it needed some accessorizing and turquoise/most cool-toned colors pretty much go with any neutral colors because they compliment each other, so I chose this turquoise necklace and a ton of bracelets and I was good to go!

Fun sidenote: These awesome boots got me featured on the Chicago Streetstyle Scene blog last month! I was so excited to be stopped :) Check it out HERE

Shirt: Forever 21
Jeggings: Target
Necklace: Forever 21
Turquoise stone bracelet: Random store in Australia
White rope bracelet: I think I stole this one from my brother a long time ago..not sure though!
The rest of the bracelets: H&M
Boots: River Island (UK store)

PS - The concert we went to was Jon Mclaughlin, and he's an amazing pianist and singer. And pretty easy on the eyes too :) Here's one of my favorite songs by him:

Feathers, Lace, & Combat Boots

I know I literally just posted an outfit last night, but I'm currently waiting on the maintenance guy to come fix my blinds that I accidentally pulled down with my unknown hulk strength(ha, not really, they're just cheap), and he's an hour late and I'm bored out of my mind because I had to move/unplug my tv for him. What is with me and my run on sentences lately? Jeez. Anyways, this outfit's a bit more girly than I usually go, but I roughed it up with my seriously-in-need-of-repairs combat boots. It's to the point where I trip at least once every block because the sole is coming off at the front...yeah, I should probably get on that.

I got these earrings recently at Forever 21 and I just love them. Forever 21 jewelry has been really great this season. I loved how they looked paired with the lace shoulder insets. Oh, and this has been my go to makeup recently. Loving a very slight smoky eye with navy eyeliner. Seems to go with everything too! Or at least I just say it does because I want to do it everyday.. :) Also, ignore the smudge of makeup on my hand..I seem to always have some kind of makeup on my hand I swear.

Top, Jeans, & Jewelry: Forever 21
Boots: DSW (Brand, Diba)

PS: Maintenance guy still isn't here. Come on, man!

Nashville Outfit #3!

My last outfit from Nashville! Another hot day, hence the tank top. Boy, am I missing this weather right now. This has to be the most stubborn spring ever. This week is actually in the 50s...and that's really exciting so that's definitely saying something haha. And, weather rant over. Anyways, I have a love hate relationship with this tank top. It's really my fault, because it's a bit big because I got a medium thinking it would be cute and baggy but it's just wide and boxy(woah, run on sentence much?). Fail on my part. But I love the design and that it says "We are alive". So I belted it with this awesome red belt from H&M(which is also a bit big and I had to make an extra hole).

Nashville Outfit #2!

My second outfit in Nashville! It was super hot(which really means in the 70s), so I opted for something simple that suited the weather. I've been inspired by big necklaces lately for some reason. It's usually not something I'm into when it comes to my own style, but I thought this chunky turquoise necklace would look great with my super casual outfit and dress it up a bit. Oh! And how awesome are these boots?! They're Nine West and I got them at Nordstrom Rack for under $40. They're super soft suede, and Nashville was the perfect place to debut them. :)

Gray Tank: Target
Jeans: Levi's (bought in Australia)
Boots: Nine West (from Nordstrom Rack)
Necklace: Urban Outfitters
Sunglasses: Kenneth Cole Reaction (from TJ Maxx)

Nashville Outfit #1

The past few days I've been in Nashville visiting my friend Kelsey, and the weather was seriously amazing(as you can see by my short sleeves). It made me even more excited for spring and summer. It was also a great chance to try out some spring outfits without a winter jacket! These red pants are quickly becoming a favorite of mine for spring. A colored pair of jeans are great for spring, especially if you're like me and tend to gravitate towards black, white, and grey clothes. I can already tell these pants will help me transition my monochromatic wardrobe into spring.
How cool is this pink loading dock? I did a bunch of photoshoot for bands/musicians while I was there and this was the location the first band chose for their shoot. There was a yellow wall with a giant red "LOVE" painted on it, and a turquoise and green wall as well. SO cool!
