I'm Back!

Woah, it's been awhile hasn't it?! Whoops. I didn't stop blogging on purpose, but I haven't exactly been dressing blog worthy either. I moved home a couple weeks ago for summer, and I just started unpacking my clothes a few days ago. Summer's supposed to be nice and relaxing, but so far mine's been go, go, go. It feels so good to finally get all my clothes sorted out and put away. It's only been about 2 weeks, but there's still a bit of a 'new clothes' feeling unpacking things I forgot I had. :)

Anyways, not a super original outfit, but I liked it and I needed to blog something so this was it! I forget about these boots all the time for some reason, but I love them. So did the random lady at Barnes & Noble who came up to me to tell me she thought they were awesome. Random stranger compliments are the best, aren't they?

P.S. - Welcome to my backyard! Haha. It was kind of dreary and rainy, but anything's better than taking pictures inside.

P.S.S. - My next post was my first photo shoot with my future roommate Mary of Undergrab Fab, and it was SO fun. I cannot wait to do it alll the time when we move into our apartment at the end of summer!!

As I was taking my outfit pictures, I saw this dewy plant and couldn't resist snapping a few photos of the water droplets so I thought I'd share some of the shots here. Would you like to see some of my photography once and a while on here, or should I keep it all fashion?

Bolts

So this outfit isn't anything all that innovative or exciting, but I just really like this necklace..and it was super nice out. :) I got this necklace in Milwaukee a while ago, but this is the first time I've worn it. I just couldn't figure out what to wear it with for some reason. And then I threw on this outfit without much thought(finals have drained my brain), and knew it needed something, so voila! Bolt necklace.

Speaking of finals, I'm done with this semester!!! IT'S SUMMER! Finally. Now I just have a week off until my summer classes start...greaaat. Oh well, anything's better than full time school right now ha.

Oh, and how nice is this location? It's right next to the Chicago Art Institute(you can see in the background of the picture below), and it suddenly got really pretty with spring. SO happy Chicago's no longer so gray :)

Color Blocking Brights

Finally gave color blocking a try today! I got these bright red-orange pants a couple weeks ago at H&M, but I've been waiting for the perfect spring day to wear them(it was 80 degrees today!). And this bag!! Royal blue suede messenger bag..on sale at Urban Outfitters for $30. How could I not?!.. Can you tell I was excited? haha.

I also did my makeup a bit different than usual today. Went for simple cateye eyeliner and that's about it. Didn't want to take away from my super bright outfit. I used the NYX Super Fat Eye Marker and I LOVE it. Today was the first time I used it, and it's so easy. I'm usually so bad at any kind of liquid eyeliner, but this is basically fool proof. I love that this look is natural but also a bit dramatic too :)

Ripper Hipster

For today's outfit I decided to embrace my hipsterness to the max(I do go to art school after all). This might not be the kind of outfit everyone would wear, and I certainly wouldn't wear it anywhere important, but for class/working on final projects at school this was perfect. There are so many "hipster" aspects of my outfit..but I don't see this as a bad thing. It really is the kind of style I like, and I hate when people use the word hipster as a bad thing. Maybe because someone said "whaaat a f**king hipster" to me a couple weeks ago as I was shooting some film for class(ugh so rude), but I'm a bit sensitive about the whole hipster thing. Probably because people tend to use it to judge a person just because they're dressed a certain way. I stick out like a sore thumb when I'm not at school if I dress super hipster-y, and I just wish people weren't so judge-y. But obviously I don't care that much, because I dress for myself and no one else :) And you should too!

Ohh boy. I did not know this blog post would turn into..that. haha. Also, sorry about the subpar pictures(and my windex cameo haha). It was already dark when I got back from printing photos for my photography final, but I still wanted to post this outfit because I feel like I usually only post my more put together looks. I hope wherever you live is getting as springy as it is here! Supposed to be in the 80s the week!! :D

Bright Plaid in Grant Park

Hey guys! First off, sorry for the photo overload today. Alex took these for me again, and it turned into a full blown photoshoot all over Grant Park :) Onto the outfit..this skirt is actually a dress. I've seen so many bloggers transform dresses by just putting some kind of top over it. This dress was a little tricky because it's strapless, and it has big buttons going up the middle all the way to the top. I ended up putting a camisole underneath, and I added a scarf to cover up any weird looking fabric underneath.

Oh, and a quick tip for anyone visiting Chicago: If you're going to wear a skirt or dress, make sure you wear opaque tights underneath since the wind is crazy and unpredictable. These tights definitely saved me from a few free shows today! :)

Looking really awesome with my backpack haha.

Mint Shorts

By just looking at my outfit, it may seem like it was super warm when I wore this yesterday. Nope, I'm just pretending it is. Fake it til..spring makes it? Sure! Haha. This outfit is uncharacteristicly(woah long word) light for me. I've recently realized that I have hardly any white tops. This one is super old and from Hollister. That alone says how old it is hah. But after wearing this super old white top I now know that I do in fact love wearing white. Especially for this season. With the sun finally showing its face more often, dressing in lighter colors just adds to the springyness :) And I thought these mint colored shorts were a perfect little subtle pop of color for this outfit.

Oh, and about the flower, me and my roommate found three freshly cut flowers just laying on the sidewalk the other day. So we scooped them up, cut off the ends, gave them some water, and they came back to life! I never knew that I liked having fresh flowers, but I definitely do :)
